Halloween Events in Rochester, NY
Aside from the odd funny holidays and observances I like to talk about—there are real ones. Like Halloween. And Rochester, NY doesn’t disappoint when it comes to fun and affordable options for celebrating. I wish I could attend them all, but that would be impossible. This year we attended two events (which means we are getting 3 uses out of a $20 dollar costume—so…Mommy Win).
Each of the area malls had family trick or treat events—and we decided go to Eastview Mall. The great thing about this event is—it’s free and not dependent on the weather. Rain or shine you will walk out of there with some candy and a toddler ready to take his nap! This year it was also the opening of the new Von Maur store—so mommy got a rose and some chocolates too :).
Sunday we went to Genesee Country Village & Museum. Wow! We had a great time and the price was perfect. For $5 a kid (parents free) we were able to trick-or-treat at 19th century homes in the beautiful historic village. There were activities spread out all over the grounds including, games for kids, a bouncy house, face painting, marshmallow roasting and more. Best of all, the village is huge, so the boys could run around to their hearts content and sleep very well on the way home. It was chilly—but Mother Nature isn’t always accommodating. We came prepared with lots of layers and left with wonderful pictures to share with family. Really enjoyed this event—highly recommend it.
Some other events maybe we can attend in the future are.
Zoo Boo at Seneca Park Zoo (several weekends at the zoo)
Ghost Walk with the Landmark Society of Western NY (have gone to this several times—for older kids)
